First Post: Book Blog Newbie Tag

I do not have the slightest idea on what to write as a first post, so I thought a newbie tag might be the best way to start. I found the Book Blog Newbie Tag through Sarah from Book Hooked Nook and because I am new and alone in the blogosphere, I’ve just tagged myself.

♡ WHY DID YOU START THIS BLOG?

I’ve always loved books but I’m not very good at reading consistently. Life can get very busy and I’m sure a lot of people can relate. Through my blog, I want to instill the habit of reading daily while inspiring others to do the same.

♡ FUN/UNIQUE THINGS YOU CAN BRING TO BOOK BLOGGING?

I love cooking and baking so I thought I could share recipes from literary fiction. I also read books in other languages such as Japanese or Chinese. If anyone is interested, I would also be able to share my thoughts on those books.

♡ WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW BLOG?

The thought of being held accountable for my reading habits was scary at first. But I also thought it was a great opportunity to finally cross off some of the books on my TBR.

♡ WHY DO YOU LOVE READING?

My love for reading stems from my love for travel and adventure. Through reading, I can travel to many worlds without having to leave the comforts of my own home.

I also enjoy being able to connect with people through books. There’s just something magical about the way books bring people together – no matter what race, nationality, age, or gender, you can still enjoy the same books.

♡ WHAT BOOK OR SERIES GOT YOU INTO READING?

I’ve always loved reading fairy tales and picture books as a kid so I guess it all started from there. I also remember reading Sweet Valley Kids and Goosebumps as well. But if I had to pick one book that changed my reading life forever, it will always be Harry Potter.

♡ WHAT QUESTIONS WOULD YOU ASK YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS?

  • What is your favorite part of the book?
  • What are your inspirations? / How did you come up with the story?
  • Which character is your favorite and why?

♡ Book Blog CHALLENGES that Are hardest to overcome

I think the most difficult challenge is being consistent with blogging. I feel like I would be terrible about updating and keeping up with my reading goals, but who knows? I might just prove myself wrong through this blog…

♡ WHEN DID YOU START READING?

My earliest recollection would be around when I was 5 or 6 years old. I started reading voraciously at the age of 12 or 13. My reading life died abruptly when I entered university and then I revived it after moving to Japan.

 ♡ WHERE DO YOU READ?

I like reading from anywhere near a window – my bedroom, at a cafe, from the window seat of the plane, train, or bus. If there’s a window, that is my reading nook. I like to take a look at the view outside whenever I take a break from reading.

♡ WHAT KIND OF BOOKS DO YOU LIKE TO READ?

I enjoy mystery and fantasy the most and I also love middle-grade fiction. I used to read a lot of young adult fiction too and wouldn’t mind reading YA titles if there’s anything that piques my interest. However, this blog is all about diving into the classics so let’s see if they would also make it into my list of favorite books to read in 2020.

And that marks the end of the Book Blog Newbie Tag. If anyone is reading this, I hope you got to know me a little bit better and I also hope we could be friends! For all the other book blog newbies out there, go ahead and tag yourself but don’t forget to send me a link – I’d love to get to know you too. That’s it for now and I hope to see you in the next post!

  1. Hi Kim,

Welcome to the blogosphere! Books and cooking go to together in my opinion, and what’s more fun that trying to recreate a delicious meal from a book? I’d love to hear your thoughts on books that were published in languages other than English, those types of blog posts are hard to find. 🙂
